Abstract

459,387. Packeting by wrapping. SUMNER, W., Fairfield Street, Prescot Road, Liverpool. Sept. 27, 1935, No. 26716. [Class 94 (i)] A flat packet containing powdery material has its final overlapping folds secured together by deformation of the wrapping material. A sheet of paper with the powder disposed at the centre is doubled longitudinally twice to form a flat open-ended closure packet as shown in Fig. 2. The ends 1a, 1b are then folded into overlapping relationship over a plate 7, and tongues 6 are punched through an aperture in the plate, so that the withdrawal of the plate wipes the tongue backwardly as in Fig. 5. Alternatively, the overlapping ends may be secured together by a crimping roller or other die acting against the plate 7.
