Abstract

459,174. Speed governors. HEMMING- SEN, T. V., 4, Otto Ruds Vej, Copenhagen. Jan. 15, 1936, No. 1335. [Class 57] An inertia governor in which weights 9, 15 are pivoted to an oscillating lever 11 and at certain speeds move so that projections 12 or 17 engage notches 25 or 26 on a lever 20 which is connected to the regulating mechanism of the engine. The lever 20 is pivoted at 2 and has a cam surface 34 formed upon it which is engaged by a spring- loaded roller 35. When the lever 20 is moved by one of the weights, the roller 35 engages a more curved part of the cam and moves the lever further and retains it there so that in subsequent strokes of the weights, no contact takes place between the weights and the lever. The spring-loaded roller may be mounted on the lever and engage a stationary cam. Alternatively, the lever may be loaded by a spring so that when it moves from a mean position, the spring tends to urge it further. The movement of the lever is limited by stops 51.
