Abstract
458,169. Discharge apparatus. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP PHILIPS' GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN, Emmasingel, Eindhoven, Holland. March 5, 1935, No. 6945. Void [Abridged as open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Nov. 16, 1935]. [Class 39 (i)] A device for generating or amplifying oscillations comprises a cathode beam which is deflected laterally and is such that it is homogeneous where it impinges on the anode or anodes. In one form a filament 3, housed in a semi-cylindrical reflecting trough 4 generates a beam which passes through an aperture 5 in an accelerating electrode 6 and, after deflection by plates 7, 8, falls on one or other of two anodes 9, 10. The anodes may be rectangular, or semicircular with their straight edges adjacent, or in the shape of right-angled triangles with their hypotenuses adjacent, or a single triangular anode may be used. A straight line characteristic is obtained with rectangular or semicircular anodes, and a curved characteristic with triangular anodes.
