457,418. Making universal joints. HARDY, SPICER, & CO., Ltd., and SPARROW, W. E., Birch Road, Witton, Birming- ham. Nov. 16, 1935, No. 31775. [Class 83 (ii)] [See also Group XXIV] The V-shaped yokes of a Hooke's joint are formed from a substantially flat sheet 11 of metal, by pressing its opposite ends to form spaced arms 12, which are pierced and drawn out to form collinear bossed eyes for receiving the trunnions of the intermediate member, not shown. The middle portion 13 of the yoke is dome shaped, and the yoke is spigoted at 16 into, and riveted or bolted at 14 to, a sleeve 18, welded or splined to a motor-vehicle propeller shaft.
