[Class 80 (iii)] A chain is arranged with its rollers i, Fig. 3, bearing on the thickened edges or rails b of a metal channel-section guide a capable of being set at different curvatures, the links h connecting the rollers being of a depth greater than the diameter of the rollers to form flanges to prevent lateral displacement. The guide is of extruded metal to provide accurate smooth faces, and may be connected at its ends to fittings having a shaped slot d in a plate or block e which forms a bearing for a sprocket wheel f connected, for example, to a rheostat. If the chain be openended the end slot d leads into a second channel j long enough to accommodate the chain beyond the sprocket. If the chain is endless, the second channel j corresponds with channel a. Intermediate the ends, pegs k may be provided for actuating switch levers in accordance with the movement of the rheostat.
