[Class 52 (iii)] An operating-table comprises a sectional top, with parts 38, 46-50, mounted on two sliding parts 14, 19 which are fitted at the upper ends of two inverted-U-form slides 4. The stand consists of two trapezoidal frames 1 with braces 2. The apices of the frame 1 contain each two guides 6<1> for the slides 4, the lower parts of which are screw-threaded, and engage with the nut-like centres of two wheels operated by worms on the ends of a spindle 7, thus raising or lowering the slides 4 and the square-section beam 10 mounted between them. This beam may be oscillated, so as to adjust the lateral inclination of the table, by worm gearing 16, 17. The slide 14 supports a table section 46, hinged to which are sections 47, 50 adjustable by means of struts 25, 21, and clamping screws 24, 22. A further section 48 is similarly adjustable with respect to the section 47. The slide 19 supports downwardly-extending members 28 in which is fitted a vertical shaft 20 ; on this are fitted arms 29-32 and plates 38 for supporting the legs and a stretching-device 43, 44. The radial position of the arm 29 on the shaft 20 may be set by means of a clamp on the wheel 35 coaxial with the shaft. The longitudinal inclination of the plates 38 may be varied by struts 39 and clamps 40.
