445,637. Fastenings. SHOWELL & SONS, Ltd., E., Stirchley Brass Foundry, and PEARCE, A. J., 15, Avebury Road, both in Stirchley, and BRADBURN, H. G., 73, Beaumont Road, Bournville, both in Birmingham. Feb. 7, 1935, No. 3913. [Class 44] A lock or latch mechanism with an actuating handle 9, or a knob, is provided with a supplementary spring 10 which is attached at one end to the square spindle 8, and anchored at the other end in a slot 11<d> in a cover 11<a>. The normal latch mechanism is contained within a casing 7. The spring 10 is placed in a box 11 which has ears 11<b> pierced by screws which hold it to the door 6 under a rose or fixing plate 9<a>. A projection 11<e> on the cover 11<a> contacts with one of the securing lugs 11<c> to limit the turning movement of the handle. The separate box 11 may be dispensed with and the spring 10 secured at one end to the fixing plate.
