443,804. Tempering glass. ASSUREX LE ROI DES VERRES DE SECURITE MAGNIEN, MONNIER, & CIE, 231, Faubourg St. Martin, Paris. Jan. 11, 1935, No. 1075. Convention date, Dec. 27, 1934. [Class 56] In a process of tempering glass by means of jets of air, movable relatively to the glass and arranged at the apices of a network of equilateral triangles, the apices of triangles on one side of the glass corresponding with the centres of triangles on the other side, the air jets are moved in a path comprising two straight lines intersecting at an angle of 60‹ followed by a third line inclined at 120‹. The return path of the jet may be the reverse of the forward path, as shown at A, Fig. 2, or may be arranged so as to complete with the forward path a pair of equilateral triangles as shown at B. A device for producing the desired movement comprises a grid resting on a carriage 2 mounted on rollers 3 running on a second carriage 4 restrained from lateral movement by guides 7, 8 and a roller 9. Cams 15 give vertical movement to the carriage 4 and cams 14 give horizontal movement to the carriage 2. Specification 442,693 is referred to.
