Abstract
442,619. Closures for tobacco jars and like containers. FRANSSON, G. L., 12, Tomtebogatan, Stockholm. Dec. 7, 1934, No. 35175. [Class 125 (iii)] The cover of a container 8 having a smooth and continuous internal surface and which is of the same or approximately the same width as the cover for the whole or nearly the whole of its height, is adapted to be brought down into the container like a piston so as to bear or nearly to bear on the contents of the container and to be secured at any level by frictional contact with the internal surface of the container. The cover comprises curved discs 4, 7 having outwardly diverging conical edges adapted to expand a rubber ring 6 against the wall of the container on pressing the discs 4, 7 together by a cam member 1. The ring 6 may be of circular, square or other polygonal crosssection and in the latter case may have bevelled corners.
