Abstract
442,390. Food carriers heated electrically and by combustion. LOCKYER, F. C., 57, Combemartin Road, Southfields, and HOTLOCK, Ltd., 24, Holborn, both in London.-Nov. 17, 1934, No. 33095. [Classes 39 (iii) and 126] Apparatus for heating food or for keeping it warm is adapted for alternative heating by combustion of fuel or by an electric heater, the latter being carried on a drawer-like support 33 which is inserted through an aperture 28 and has means for closing the aperture or apertures 29 supplying air for combustion when fuel is used. In the apparatus shown the rear wall 37 of the drawer 33 covers the apertures 29. The fuel-burning unit shown in Fig. 2 is also of drawer-like form, and carries a grate 27<a>. Tubes may extend inwardly from the inlets 29, and be closed by the electric unit when it is inserted. Alternatively, the electric unit may operate through lever or like mechanism a slide which closes the apertures 29. The food containing portion 12 contains shelves 20 and pans 23 suspended from an apertured top plate 22. The heated air passes up spaces 14 surrounding the chamber 12 and through hollow doors 25 at the top of the apparatus.
