Abstract
439,662. Friction clutches. BORG & BECK CO., 6558, South Menard Avenue, Chicago, U.S.A. Jan. 7, 1935, No. 563. Convention date, Nov. 1, 1934. [Class 80 (ii)] A friction clutch is normally engaged by springs (not shown), and adapted to be disengaged through radial levers 29 acting on the presser plate 27 through struts 31, the fixed spring pressure being supplemented at high speeds by centrifugal weights 34 shaped to provide fulcrum points 35 held against the edge of apertures 36 in the cover plate 10 by light springs 37. The weights act on the presser plate 27 through struts 38, Fig. 1, or through pre-loaded springs 41, Fig. 4, which latter yield at a predetermined load so as to limit the effect of the weights.
