Abstract

438,229. Centrifugal gas cleaners. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., Magnet House, Kingsway, London, and LAMBERT, B. V., Fraser & Chalmers Engineering Works, Erith, Kent. Aug. 29, 1934, No. 24852. [Class 23] A cyclone separator is divided into a number of separating chambers by transverse plates 5 each provided with a central hole 7 and so arranged that the passage for air and dust round the periphery of the plate is adjustable. In the form shown in the Figure, a conical flange 6 projects inwardly from the wall 1, and the plate 5 can be raised or lowered by any suitable means, such as an axial screw, to vary the gap 8 between the plate and the flange. The plate and the flange may be flat, and where the wall 1 is conical the variable gap may be between the plate and the wall.
