Abstract

437,111. Roller and roller - and - breast mills. HIBBS, S. F. TATTON-, Gilnahirk Road, Belfast. April 20, 1934, No. 11911. [Class 59] In roller-and breast mills arranged in series and having grooved rollers and breasts, the flutes or grooves on each roller are arranged spirally and flutes or grooves of the breast are arranged parallel to the axis of the roller. As shown spirally grooved or fluted rollers 2, 3, driven by separate motors, work in conjunction with breasts or segments 6, 7, having straight grooves or flutes. The breasts are mounted in side brackets and are adjustable by screwed bolts. Grain is fed to a feed hopper 8 provided with a pair of fluted break rolls 9, 10 and drops on to a deflector 14 which directs the material between the roller 2 and breast 6. The material then passes to the roller 3 and breast 7 having grooves of finer pitch, the roller 3 running at a higher peripheral speed than the roller 2. The casing is provided with doors 15<a>, 15<b> and the deflectors may be hinged to direct the material at any stage through an outlet in the casing. The grain may be discharged directly from the break rolls through an orifice in the mill casing.
