Abstract

434,382. Stop valves. HARLOW, B. S., 44, Wellington Road North, Stockport, Cheshire. July 4, 1934, No. 19659. [Class 135] In a stop-valve in which a piston 5, hollow and ported at its lower end, is moved within a ported seating 4 by a screw spindle 12 coacting with a gland or the like 10, in order to withdraw the seating 4 without the use of a special tool, the casing is provided with a normally cap-closed aperture 14<a> screw-threaded to correspond to the gland thread 10<a> so that the gland on removal with the spindle and detachment of the valve may be inserted in the aperture 14<a>. On screwing in the spindle, the valve seat 4 will be ejected. The seating is in three sections separated by packings 16 which are protected from fluid pressure at all times by the piston 5.
