Abstract

433,756. Endless-belt conveyers. VICARS, Ltd., T. & T., and MARSDEN, L., Earlestown, Newton - le - Willows, Lancashire. Feb. 1, 1935, No. 3264. [Class 78 (i)] An endless-conveyer belt is diverted from its forward course at a plurality of positions in order to provide two or more portions of the belt in proximity to one another moving in different directions. The diverting means comprises rollers or guide bars 2 disposed at an angle other than normal to the longitudinal axis of the belt, the bars being optionally angularly adjustable. Fig. 1 shows a belt passing over three reversing rollers 11, one of which may be a driving roller, and transferring objects 6 from a part 1 of the belt to a part 5 of the same belt moving in a direction at right angles thereto. The number of rollers 11 may be such that the endless belt may be made with or without a twist, in the former case the belt being made in a single length and having its two ends connected together after twisting. Fig. 7 shows a belt arranged to change the direction of conveyance of the articles 6 twice, the three carrying portions being denoted by references 24, 14 and 17.
