432,386. Turbine blades. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., 28, Kingsway, London, CHITTENDEN, J. P., South Lodge, Westfield, and BUCKLEY, F., 93, Newbold Road, both in Rugby. May 25, 1934, No. 15622. [Class 110 (iii)] A process of producing an erosion-resisting edge on a turbine blade consists in depositing on the blade by a mechanical process such as welding a harder material, in subsequently further hardening this material by mechanical working such as cold rolling or hammering, and in electrolytically depositing a coating of a still harder material. The first material may be manganese steel applied by electric welding from an electrode of that material, and the electrolytic coating may be of chromium. The piece welded on may be a complete blade tip or only a thin shield.
