Abstract
431,282. Vehicle spring-suspensions. BINACHON, J. MARTIN-, Pont-Salomon, Haute-Loire, and ETABLISSEMENTS M. HOUDAILLE, 50, Rue Raspail, Levallois Perret, Seine, both in France. March 26, 1934, No. 9454. Convention date, March 29, 1933. [Class 108 (ii)] In a stabilizing device for vehicles of the kind in which the means for supporting the chassis C on the axle E comprises systems of jointed levers a, b, c, and f, g, h, associated with shock-absorbers A, A<1>, the jointed systems on the opposite sides of the vehicle are inter-connected either as shown in Fig. 1, by a pair of parallel links ad, fi, and an intermediate rod di, or by equivalent mechanism, such mechanism being given a certain degree of flexibility and exerting a positive stabilizing effect. The links, for example, may themselves be flexible, or may have metallic or hydraulic springs associated therewith. In the arrangement, Fig. 1, the links ad, fi move rigidly with the levers ab, fg, and the shock-absorbers are disposed at the points a, f. Other arrangements are described in which the shock-absorbers are located at the points b, g or c, h, and in which double armed levers pivoted at the points a, f have their extremities inter-connected by parallel or crossed levers. In another modification, Fig. 5, resilience is incorporated in the stabilizing device by interposing springs r, r<1> in cables passing round pulleys p, pl at the points a, f and connected to the axle at c, h and to the jointed systems at the points b, g where the shock-absorbers A, A<1> are mounted. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 also comprises modifications which have been made the subject-matter of divisional application 431,308. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
