Abstract
430,086. Electric hot-plates. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., 28, Kingsway, London, and SMITH, F., 8, Aireville Drive, Frizinghall, Bradford. Dec. 13, 1933, No. 35077. [Class 39 (iii)] A hot-plate comprises a number of flat topped sheet metal box members 1 and 1<a> covering open type electric heating elements 2 and secured together by brackets 10 and 11 to form a substantially continuously heated surface on which vessels to be heated may be placed. The elements 2 are formed by winding resistance wire on refractory rods and are provided with end supports which may be fitted to the box members or the brackets. The boxes may be provided with perforations 14 or slits 15 and 16 to permit the passage of radiant heat upwards. The boxes may be open at the bottom so that the hot plate may serve as a griller or they may be closed by bottom reflectors. In one construction the reflectors 15 are hinged so that they may hang vertically and the channels 16 they are provided with then serve as runners for pans. The terminal block for the elements is carried by one of the brackets. The boxes may be annular and concentric.
