428,346. Knitting. SCHUBERT & SALZER MASCHINENFABRIK AKT.-GES., 11, Lothringerstrasse, Chemnitz, Germany. Oct. 22, 1934, No. 30246. Convention date, Nov. 16, 1933. [Class 74 (ii)] To fashion the heels of stocking blanks intended to be produced on a flat knitting frame in one working operation, after the ankle portion V has been worked, with or without a high splice, the instep loops a to a<1> and most of the heel loops a<1> to a<11> are removed, leaving, say, five loops in place at each selvedge. Partial courses are then worked on the heel, loops are gradually restored at regular intervals working towards the point a and the fabric is simultaneously widened at the selvedges. When the line a<1> ... a<111> is reached heel loops are removed again at intervals, starting at the point a<1>. Widening continues to the point bl and is followed by narrowing to the point a<1111>, when the removed loops are restored to the needles and ordinary knitting proceeds. A narrowing mark e, e<1> may be put in, in continuation of the narrowing line d, d<1>.
