Abstract
427,857. Vehicle bodies and doors. NEWSUM, SONS & CO., Ltd., H., Clay Lane, and ALESBURY, D. L., Spencer House, Spencer Avenue, both in Coventry. Aug. 2, 1934, No. 22522. [Classes 103 (ii) and 108 (i)] The main frames of vehicle bodies and doors and like skeleton structures are formed wholly, or in part, of straight timber which is permanently bent to the required form with the grain running longitudinally and in some cases corresponding elements at opposite sides of the frame are made in one piece. As shown the pillars a, b, on each side are each formed in one piece with the roof bends a<1>, b<1> and are jointed to the bottom frame members h, i. The longitudinal members c are jointed to the member d and together with member c<1> are carried upwardly and along the roof to the canopy member k being jointed to the roof bends a<1>, b<1>. The waist and back rails e .. e<2> are jointed and arranged as shown. A boot lid frame is formed in one piece and hinged to tne rall a. The door frame r is bent in one piece and fits between the pillars a, b which are connected at the foot by small bends q closely adjacent the door frames r. The cant rail f, screen rail and dash rim m are formed and mounted as shown.
