[Class 35] Motors with unwound iron armatures.-The stator of a synchronous motor has at least one pole-shoe carried solely by a resilient member to enable it to move in either direction relatively to the associated electromagnet pole. In the form shown iron dust may be inserted in the gaps between the poles of the fixed core f and the movable pole - shoes g, h, which are mounted on spring strips j, k and connected by a link n. The pole - shoes are notched to correspond to the spacing of the teeth on the rotor d. In a modified form, a second electromagnet or a permanent magnet is arranged with one pole near the rotor and the other close to or touching the main magnet. The motor winding may also be supplied with continuous current.
