427,284. Vulcanizing-apparatus. SIMON, Ltd., H., Bird Hall Lane, Cheadle Heath, Cheshire. Oct. 13, 1934, No. 29370. Convention date, Oct. 30, 1933. [Class 70] Apparatus for re-treading tyres comprises a twin, curved, transversely split annular mould 15 adapted to encircle the tyre 17, heating coils 18, 19 supported on the outside of the mould, and a split clamping ring 31 slidable over the outside and slightly spaced away from the heating coils, carrying adjusting means to draw the tyro mould into close fit on the outside of the tyre. The adjusting means may comprise hooks 32, 33 on the clamping ring 31, and a chain 37 connected to a screw 39 threaded in a U-shaped support 38 pivotally mounted on a base 34, which also has an apertured extension 36 fitting over the hook 33. The apparatus is capable of being used for tyres of different sizes, a supplementary heating coil being provided for insertion between the ends of the main coils 18, 19 when a space is left therebetween on placing a larger tyre in the mould.
