Abstract

425,139. Vehicle bodies. PRESSED STEEL CO. OF GREAT BRITAIN, Ltd., Cowley, and SWALLOW, W., 31, Forest Road, Headington, both in Oxford. Dec. 8, 1933, No. 34566. [Class 108 (i)] In sheet-metal vehicle bodies the dash panel is formed in two portions, the lower portion being bulged forwardly to provide adequate leg room for the occupants and the upper portion constituting the facia panel to which the instrument board is secured. The lower bulged portion 13-15 is flanged at its upper portion as at 17-19 to form with the lower edge of the facia panel 20 a transverse box section, while the upper part of the facia panel 20 is directed rearwardly as at 22 and clinched over the flange 24 of the cowl panel 25, a transverse reinforcing plate 29 being also connected to the facia panel 20 and the cowl panel 25. The instrument board 16 is secured to the facia panel 20 by screws 31, 32.
