Abstract

424,609. Revolving - cylinder pumps. WEGERDT, F., 2, Kyffhõuserstrasse, Chemnitz, Germany. Aug. 1, 1934, No. 22413. [Class 102 (i)] [See also Group XXVI] In a pump of the revolving-cylinder and swash-plate type leakage is prevented by sealing liquid supplied to recesses surrounding the moving parts by auxiliary pump plungers. The cylinder body a, Fig. 1, is mounted on a shaft b and the main plungers d are operated by a swash-plate g. The liquid is distributed by semicircular suction and discharge grooves o, p in the casing c, radial passages r in the body a and passages t, u in the plungers. The sealing liquid is supplied to annular grooves l, k, m, by auxiliary plungers h operated by a swash-plate i and communicating with semicircular suction and discharge grooves w, y, in the casing c. The pressure of the sealing liquid is regulated by a bal byepass valve 5 acted on by a spring 6 and by a plunger 8 which is exposec to the pressure in the main discharge passage p. The sealing liquid may be pumped in excess and discharged by a passage 20. In a modification, Fig. 7, the main pump has two sets of plungers d operated by opposed swash-plates g The sealing liquid is supplied to recesses 16 by an auxiliary swash-plate pump a<1>, which may also be supplied with seal ing liquid by plungers h<1> operated by a swash-plate h<1>. The swash-plate i of the pump a may be adjusted by a spindle 14, Fig. 6, carrying a member 12 acted on by two plungers 13, one of which is exposed to the discharge pressure of the main pump and the other to the discharge pressure of the auxiliary pump. Alternatively the plungers 13 may act directly on the swashplate i. The main pump may comprise two cylinder-bodies a, Fig. 7, on separate spindles driven from a spindle 18 through gearing 17, 19.
