Abstract

421,612. Twist tubes or the like for spinning or twisting machines. PLATT BROS. & CO., Ltd., Hartford Works, Oldham, and HUGHES, J., 903, Oldham Road, Rochdale. March 23, 1933, No. 8735. [Class 120 (ii)] To facilitate the introduction of sliver or the like into twist tubes or analogous devices in machines for spinning or twisting fibrous material, a guide in the form of a non-rotary tube or funnel d, Fig. 6, or u, Fig. 7, is arranged within the twist tube a, as shown in the former Figure, or is movable into the tube by means of an arm w, as shown in the latter Figure, when used with tubes provided with projections v for engaging the sliver during normal working. In the latter case the funnel is provided with a gap or slit to enable it to be withdrawn from the tube when the sliver has been inserted. The twist tubes may be mounted in ball bearings and driven by screw-gearing, (Figs 4 and 5 not shown). A fixed or movable auxiliary guide t, Fig. 6, in the form of a channel may be provided.
