421,030. Telescopic gun-sights. AKT.- GES. C. P. GOERZ OPTISCHE ANSTALT, Pressburg, Bratislava, Czecho-Slovakia, and HOFE, C. VON, 5, Sonnleithnergasse, Vienna. April 18, 1934, No. 11700. [Class 97 (i)] [See also Group XXI] A sighting telescope is provided with means for measuring the range of a target of known size, comprising a graticule 9 bearing a number of marks or figures of definite magnitude corresponding to the sizes of the different targets to be observed, and a pancratic lens system 4, 5 displaceable between the object glass 2 and eyepiece 2a to vary the size of the target image so that the latter corresponds to the size of the appropriate measuring mark. The pancratic system is displaced by a sleeve 6 rotatably mounted on the telescope tube 1 and provided with helical grooves 6a engaging pins 7 on the lens mounts 8, these pins also passing through axial slots 1a in the tube 1. The sleeve 6 has an enlargement 6c to which is secured a ring 10 having a spiral groove 10<a> engaged by a pin 9<a> on the graticule 9, so that, as the sleeve 6 is rotated, the graticule is moved transversely through such a distance that the line of sight becomes inclined to the axis of the barrel of the gun carrying the telescope, by an angle equal to the tangent elevation corresponding to the range for which the telescope is adjusted. The ring 10 bears a range scale 10<b> co-operating with an index 11<a> on the eyepiece tube.
