Abstract
420,651. Carpets with pile tufts knotted around warp threads. BREITSCHADEL, F., 1, Krottfelder Strasse, Katscher, Upper Silesia, Germany. June 1, 1934, Nos. 16432 and 16433. Convention dates, June 1, 1933 and Dec. 12, 1933. [Class 142 (iv)] Each pile tuft is knotted round two sets of warp threads, each comprising two or more threads d, e, and g, h, Figs. 5 and 6, arranged side by side, but shed separately to receive the binding-wefts 1, 2. Shrinkage of the weft threads and of the carpet is thus prevented. The warp threads e, h may be more highly tensioned than the threads d, g and shed so that the first binding weft moves underneath the second to some extent as shown at 1 in Fig. 10. The first and fourth or the second and third warp threads may be loose and the others tight, and a greater amount of the loose warp threads than the tight ones may be inserted. An example wherein the tufts are each knotted around two sets of three threads is illustrated. The carpet may have Smyrna or Persian knots.
