Abstract
419,750. Heating water. BELL'S HEAT APPLIANCES, Ltd., 157, Queen Victoria Street, and BOVING, J. O., 47, King William Street, both in London. May 19, 1933, No. 14546. [Classes 64 (i) and 64 (ii).] In a water heater having a central fuel hopper 12 arranged above a firegrate 10, a heat-transmitting liquid with a high boiling point circulates through an annular chamber 1 and a coil 22 within a watertank 21 surrounding the hopper. The chamber 1 forms a continuation of the hopper, and its lower part 3 may extend downwards to act as a fire box ; fins 39 extend into the annular flue 5. A thermostatic control 27 in accordance with the temperature of the water actuates dampers 34, 35 and so regulates the supply of primary and secondary air for combustion. Mercury, or a mixture of aluminium, sodium, and iron chlorides may be used as the heat-transmitting liquid.
