Abstract
419,122. Valve components. NAAMLOOZE YENNOOTSCHAP NIEUWE OCTROOI MAATSCHAPPIJ, 30, Carel van Bylandtlaan, The Hague.-(Assignees of Beardsley, E. W. ; 136, Liberty Street, New York, U.S.A.) Feb. 7, 1934, No. 4070. Convention date, Feb. 7, 1933. [Class 135.] A valve comprises a casing 10 provided with an inlet port 11 and an outlet port 12 within which is mounted a piston A terminating in a flared portion 14. A stem 16 is secured to the piston A and engages a threaded spindle 18 operated by the motor 25 or the handwheel 28. The piston A is provided with packing comprising rings 40 of asbestos and graphite mixture &c. alternated with spacer rings 41 having grooves a, b connected by radial ports c. A number of lubricating pipes 48, provided with fittings 50 for connecting to a grease gun, are arranged to supply lubricant to the grooves a. A sleeve 36 surrounds the piston and is secured to a member 34 engaging grooves in the frame 20. The sleeve 36 also has projections 37 engaging grooves in the piston A. The sleeve 36 is adjusted relatively to the piston A to compress the packing B by a nut 43. The annular space between the piston A and the sleeve 36 forms a cooling water space, water being supplied through the pipe 56 and passing through ports 57 to the spindle 18.
