Abstract
417,493. Changing signs. SCHIEREN, A., and SCHIEREN, J., 148, Boulevard de la Petrusse, Luxemburg. Dec. 20, 1933, No. 35821. [Class 3 (i).] In intermittently operated endless band advertising apparatus a blind is drawn up to conceal the band during each movement and a rear lamp is extinguished. The actuating mechanism comprises a motor 12 driving by a belt 14 a spindle 16 geared to a shaft 18, which by a pinion 21, idle pinion 24, and gear wheel 22 rotates a shaft 23 more slowly in the same direction. A cam 31 on the shaft 23 makes and breaks a cone clutch 25 on the shaft 18, whereby cords 46 are wound on the clutch pulley and the blind 42 is raised to hide the band 5. The cords 46 pass over pulleys 47, 49, 50 for attachment to a cross-bar 43 sliding on two vertical guides 45, the upper end of the blind being attached to the bar 43. A second cam 32 on the shaft 23 operates a dogclutch 26 on the shaft 18, whereby the bandcarrying rollers, driven by a toothed wheel 39, are put in and out of movement. A switch 41 is actuated by the clutch 26 to extinguish the lamp 10 during movement of the band. The band 5 is built up of sections laced on to cross members joining two side chains. The cabinet enclosing the apparatus may be surmounted by coloured lamps alternately illuminated by a rotary switch driven by the motor 12.
