Abstract
417,323. Single - step counting apparatus. MEASUREMENT, Ltd., and HOLDEN, F., Terminal House, Lower Belgrave Street, Eaton Square, London. March 27, 1933, No. 9224. [Class 106 (i).] In a meter for registering a charge for hire in addition to the consumption of the commodity, such as electricity, being measured and delivered, an epicyclic gear comprising two sun - wheels f, i and an epicyclic pinion h is arranged so that the sun-wheel i is driven from the motor spindle b through spur gearing m, k, and the spur-wheel d carrying the pinion h is driven by a pinion c on a constantspeed shaft a. The wheel f has more teeth than the wheel i, the difference being one or more, so that if the wheel i is stationary and the pinion h makes one revolution around the wheels f, i the wheel f is turned through an angular distance equal to one or more teeth. The wheel f is carried by a boss e secured to a shaft g, which is thus given a slow rotation which is transmitted through gearing n, o to differential gearing p, r, t, the sun-wheel t of which is connected by the wheel u with the prepayment mechanism of the meter. If the spindle b is rotated by the meter, the motion of the spindle g is that due to the combined effects of the rotations of the spindles b, a.
