[Class 100 (i).] A weft - straightening device for woven fabrics comprises pairs of rollers arranged in parallel planes, alternate pairs being in the same plane and staggered with respect to the pair or pairs in the other plane, and means for simultaneously varying the mutual angularity of the rollers of each pair in the same manner in their respective planes so that the common tangents between successive rollers are increased at one end whilst being decreased at the other end. As shown two pairs of roll ers 2, 3 and 6, 7 and an intermediate pair 4, 5 are arranged in vertical planes and, in their normal condition, the axes of the rollers are parallel to one another and the pair 4, 5 is staggered with respect to the pairs 2, 3 and 6, 7. Guide rollers 1, 8 in stationary bearings are also provided and the fabric passes round the rollers as shown. The rollers 2-7 are mounted in bearings g slidable on guide rods b, c. At each end of the rollers is arranged a pair of vertical rods i, j connected by rods k to the opposite ends of levers l arranged on a cross-shaft m which may be rocked by a handle n or by chain-actuated worm gear so that as the rods i move upwardly the rods j move downwardly. The bearing brackets g of the rollers 2, 4, 6 are, at one end of the rollers, connected to the rod i and at the same end, the brackets of the rollers 3, 5 and 7 are connected to the rod j. At the other end, the brackets of the rollers 2, 4, 6 are connected to the rod and those of the rollers 3, 5, 7 to the rod i. Thus, as the shaft m is turned the push of the fabric at one end of the rollers is extended and at the other end is reduced.
