416,205. Ventilators. HEPPENSTALL, T. A., 137, Raeburn Avenue, Eastham, Cheshire, and ROBERTSON CO., H. H., Grant Building, 3rd Avenue, Pittsburg, U.S.A. Nov. 7, 1933, No. 30923. [Classes 25 and 137.] A ventilator capable of functioning with the wind blowing from any direction comprises an eduction pipe 10 above which is mounted a cap 13 to prevent entry of rain, a storm band 12 being mounted on the tube 10 and having an upwardly projecting baffle 15 spaced by a passage 20 from the cap 13. Deflecting members 26, 29 in the form of a double cone are mounted on the pipe 10 below the member 12, and a lip 40 is provided at the top of the pipe. Wind entering from above flows vertically downwards, and is caused by the member 26 to have a suction effect on the eduction pipe. Horizontal and upward air currents create a suction through the passage 14, the lip 40 preventing air from below from passing upwardly along the eduction pipe.
