Abstract
416,076. Grinding-wheels. WARBURTON, R. E. L., 42, Rutland Gate, South Kensington, London, and MOLLOY, L., 32, Thicket Road, Sutton, Surrey. March 9. 1933, No. 7138. [Class 60.] An abrading- wheel comprises a tubular abrading- element 8 mounted on a longitudinally split cylinder 2 of steel, with or without an interposed resilient sleeve 7 of rubber, felt &c., the cylinder being supported at its ends by the bevelled edges of discs 3, 3<a> and expanded to grip the element 8 by axial movement of the disc 3a. The discs 3, 3<a> have have D-shaped central apertures engaging a correspondingly sectioned part of a spindle 1, the disc 3 abutting against a collar 4 and the disc 3<a> being movable by a nut 5 screwing on the spindle. A cylindrical distance piece 6 may be located between the discs to prevent their tilting. In a modification, a spring is placed around the spindle between the discs. The discs may have radial strengthening ribs 10.
