[Classes 44 and 89 (ii).] An article is detachably secured to a supporting plate 10 by one or more pins 17 each passed through a hole 11 in the plate and retained by spring wires 14 engaging with a groove 21, each pin being held against turning by the engagement of bars 12, 16 on the plate 10 with one slot 19 or two cross-slots in the end of the pin. In Fig. 3, the bar 12 extends across a number of holes 11 which are preferably circular and is carried by cross-pieces 13 which serve also to support the wires 14. The pin 17 may be bifurcated so as to have two slotted ends 18 to engage in adjacent holes 11. In one application, the plate 10 may be screwed or clamped to the edge of a shelf and carry hooks, Fig. 4, for supporting cups &c. As applied to electrical signs, the pin 17 may carry a lamp and be formed so that the rib 12 acts as the positive lead and the spring wire 14 as the negative. A sign or facia may be secured to a support by symmetrical pins 22, Fig. 6, slotted at both ends and adapted to engage with plates on the support and the sign. Fig. 8 shows a sign 24 mounted on a pin 23 provided with a series of holes 26 adapted to receive a cross pin to retain signs of various thicknesses. To prevent unauthorized removal of a pin, a wire may be passed through aligned holes in the pin and in a collar carried by the plate and the ends of the wire concealed. If desired, two plates 10 may be used together, being separated by distance pieces which may act as the bars 12, 16 and two pairs of springs may be incorporated in the unit so that pins may be inserted from either side ; further a number of plates may be formed into a box-like casing.
