Abstract

414,449. Supporting electric lamps. ETCHELLS, J., 21, Park Road, Stretford, Manchester, and ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd., Crown House, Aldwych, London. March 4, 1933, No. 6641. [Class 75 (iii).] An electric lamp fitting suitable for attachment to the wall or ceiling of a railway coach comprises a base 3 of synthetic resin or other moulded plastic material formed with a lamp socket 4 and projections 2a, a cover 2 fitting over the base and having a flange registering with the projections 2a, and a shouldered tubular member 9 which screws on the socket 4 and secures the cover to the base. The socket 4 is fitted with spring-contact plungers 6 and a ring 7 for holding the lamp bulb 1. The base is preferably formed with sloping ribs carrying pillars 13 supporting a switch 16 operating knife contacts 17 to bridge contacts 18, 19. The contact 18 is connected to one socket contact 6 and the contact 19 is connected to a supply terminal 21 through a fuse wire. The other socket contact 6 is connected directly to the other supply terminal 20.
