Abstract

413,983. Cardboard boxes. FILMER, R. H., 40, Compton Street, Clerkenwell, London. Feb. 3, 1934, No. 3625. [Class 18.] A partition in a cardboard box capable of being folded against one or two opposite sides of the box, and in some cases capable of being entirely removed, consists of one or two layers of cardboard 15, 16, Fig. 1, such layer or layers being each hinged along one vertical edge to the side of the box, e.g. by stapling flaps 18 thereto, a flap such as 17 at the opposite edge of the layer passing behind a piece of cardboard, e.g. the flap 18, secured to the opposite side of the box. A distance piece for flap 18 may be formed by turning over its upper edge or by turning over the upper edge of the box rim. In the form shown in Fig. 4 the partition is made from a single piece of folded cardboard 28, 29 with flaps 30, 30, 31, 32 of which flaps 30 take under the turned-over edge of the box to form a hinge, flap 31 takes under the turnedover edge of the opposite side of the box and flap 32 is cut away to fit with a cut-away portion of the turned-over edge of the box. When a single partition is used, the edge flap may take under a piece of cardboard 23, Fig. 10, provided with a distance piece 24. The partition may be extended upwardly to form a handle with a hand-hole. The edge of the box is turned over inwards and lining plates 14, Fig. 1, may be inserted at the ends.
