Dec. 5, 1932, No. 16021/34. Divided on 411,482. Drawings to Specification. [Class 38 (iii).] In automatic control of a regenerative D.C. traction system employing progressive main series resistance control followed by progressive field strength control during motoring or regenerating or both, such control being obtained by means of a current limit relay operating with groups of electrically operated contactors with sequence interlocks, an interlock is provided which operates, when the main series resistance has been fully cut out, to render the operation of the resistance contactors ineffectual for main series resistance control, but effectual, by their auxiliary contacts, for the subsequent field strength control, under the control of the same current limit relay. The invention is described as applied to the D.C. traction system with regenerative and rheostatic braking of Specification 411,482. Specifications 395,068 and 411,481 also are referred to.
