[Class 64 (ii).] A steam trap of the kind in which a bucket 3 when filled with condensate from an inlet 2 falls to open a discharge valve with a spherical or conical closure member 4 seating on a cavity formed in an outlet plug 7 with a central discharge channel 5, has a perforated shroud comprising a number of straight channels 8 of small diameter connecting the cavity with the liquid reservoir and extending either parallel with the central discharge channel 5 or at such an angle thereto that the escaping water undergoes only a slight change of direction, the channels being of such small diameter that any grit in the water is stopped. The number of channels is such that the total cross-sectional area is considerably greater than that of the central discharge channel.
