Abstract

411,447. Vehicle suspensions; shockabsorbers. FAUDI, F., 190, Hansa-Allee, Oberkassel, D³sseldorf, Germany. Oct. 5, 1932, No. 9565/34. Divided on 408,592. [Classes 108 (ii) and 108 (iii).] In a combined pneumatic suspension and damping device for motor bicycles, light cars &c. comprising a differential piston 2 and a compressed-air cylinder connected respectively to the wheel suspension or vehicle frame or vice-versa, a passage or passages 5 formed in the piston connect a cylinder chamber o with a chamber 6 formed in the piston or pistonrod, the chamber 6 communicating through apertures 9 with the other cylinder chamber u, the passage or passages 5 being closed normally by a spring-pressed, apertured, non-return, discvalve 7. On compression of the device the valve 7 opens and air passes from the chamber o through the passages 5 and apertures 9 to the chamber u, while on extension of the device the valve remains closed, air passing through the aperture 10 therein.
