410,589. Magnetic clutches. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., Crown House, Aldwych, London, and LANCHESTER, F. W., Dyott End, Oxford Road, Moseley, Birmingham. March 11, 1933, No. 7453. [Class 35.] A magnetic coupling consists of a member carrying a number of permanent horseshoe magnets in coplanar arrangement co-operating with a squirrel cage or like rotor. The magnets 1 may be embedded in stereo metal 3 within a rim 2 and the whole form a flywheel. The rotor 6 is provided with copper bars 5 passing through it and turned over copper end rings. The clutch may be combined with a liberating clutch, a friction clutch, or frictionally controlled change-gear mechanism.
