[Class 74 (ii).] A feeder for supplying plating yarns 4, 5 to the 'needles of a stationary needle cylinder machine comprises a disc like member 3 pivoted by a pin 12 upon a spindle 6. The member 3 is held at a desired angle by a spring controlled curved arm 19. For reversing the plating by rotating the spindle 6 a bevel gear 21 is provided on the end of the spindle and is driven by gear 22, 23 from a quadrant 24. The quadrant 24 carries a pin 27 engaging in cam slots 28 in pattern controlled cams 29 mounted at diametrically opposite points on a fixed part of the machine. Radial adjustment of the cams 29 for actuating the quadrant 24 is obtained by a quadrant and rack 36, 35, the quadrant 36 engaging also an annular gear 38 rotated by rods 41 carrying arms 42 engaging a pattern drum. Warp thread feeders 83 for supplying threads to individual needles may be provided. The plate 8 carrying the plating yarn feeder is mounted upon a pivot 52 so that it can be moved to inoperative position, and a feeder arm 53 for a heel and toe thread is mounted upon the pivot 52, so that it can be swung into operative position as the plating feeder is moved to inoperative position. For moving the feeders 3, 53 to and from operative position a plate 60 fixed against rotation, but vertically movable by pattern mechanism is provided with pins 59 engaging and rotating a wheel 58. The wheel 58 through gearing 62 rotates cam discs 54, 55 engaging the plate 8 and the feeder 53. A member 68 is moved inwardly under spring control to press the introduced yarn into engagement with the needles. A cam 70 rotating with the wheel 58 normally holds a rod 71 in such position as to hold the member 68 outwardly against the spring 69.
