Abstract
409,538. Lifting-jacks. MAZZA, M., 169, Willesden Lane, London. May 24, 1933, No. 20640. Divided on 413,107. [Class 78 (iii).] A hydraulic lifting unit for attachment to a motor vehicle or other object to be lifted comprises a horizontally disposed cylinder and piston with mechanical means operated by movement of the piston for transmitting downward pressure to a pot or ground-plate. The means shown comprises a lazytongs linkage 8 the elements 7<1> and 9<1> of which are pivoted respectively to a lug 7 on the cylinder and to a collar 6 slidable on the cylinder and connected by rods 5 to a head 11 on the piston-rod. The cylinder is provided with an attachment lug or plate 1 and the ground-plate 10 is pivoted to the linkage directly under the lugs 7 and 1. The apparatus, when collapsed, may be enclosed to exclude dust &c. When attached to a vehicle frame, fluid may be supplied from a central pump with distributing valves &c. and hooks may be provided (in known manner) to engage the axles to prevent sagging of the vehicle springs when the frame is lifted.
