Abstract

409,246. Cooling cylinders. NORRIS, H. KENT-, 15, Buckingham Road, Newbury, Berkshire. Dec. 6, 1933, No. 34298. [Class 7 (ii).] The bars E of exhaust ports in the cylinder walls are strengthened and cooled by being cast around tubes G through which cooling water flows. The bars and tubes, which are both trapezoidal in cross section, are preferably arranged as a true helix and at an angle of 30‹ to the cylinder axis. The tubes G are of stainless steel and made by drawing through a die their ends, which extend beyond the ports, are fixed into the mould prior to casting.
