[Class 146 (iii).] A fountain pen of the type in which a collapsable sac a is deflated by buckling a spring d through end pressure, the spring is engaged by a non-rotatable headed plunger g guided in a sleeve f and carrying a screwed spindle k on which a push-button n is mounted, the sleeve being screwed into the end of the barrel to facilitate removal for replacement of the mechanism, and being adapted to be secured between the plunger and the button to give a tight closure to the barrel by adjustment of the button on the spindle. The plunger is of square cross-section and receives the rounded end of the spring in a central recess j. The sleeve is provided with a bore of square cross-section at the forward end for non-rotatably guiding the plunger, and of circular cross-section at the rear end for accommodating the push-button. To prevent detachment of the push-button from the spindle, a collar l screws on the end of the spindle and is received in a recess p in the pushbutton closed by a screw cap o.
