Abstract
644,246. Fountain pens. COMPAGNIE DES ENCRES. July 29, 1948, No. 20246. Convention date, Nov. 19, 1947. [Class 146 (iii)] In a self-filling device for a fountain pen provided with a collapsable sac compressed by a pressure bar 3 secured to and controlled by a flexible strip and the end 7 of which is accommodated in a bore 8 of a plunger 9, the plunger has a portion 11 on which is screwed a cap 19, and the rear end of the pen barrel 1 is secured to a member 12 provided with a square guiding surface to guide the plunger 9 during longitudinal movement and prevent it from rotating when the cap 19, which is prevented from moving axially, is rotated. The member 12 carries a retaining flange 17 at one end, and has slits 18 to allow the flange 17 to spring into an annular recess 23, while the other end has a flange 14. The cap 19 is thus prevented from moving axially by the flanges 17 and 14. Rotation of the cap 19 causes an axial movement of the plunger 9 in a forward or rearward direction to deform, or allow straightening of, the strip 4. The cap 19 may be made of synthetic resinous material, in which case it is fitted with a metal bush 21.
