Abstract
408,558. Feeding sheets. DRUCKMASCHINEN AKT.-GES., Glarus, Switzerland. Feb. 3, 1934, No. 3635. Convention date, Feb. 6, 1933. [Class 100 (i).] Sheets are fed to printing &c. machines by means of grippers 5, 5<1> mounted on bars 20 attached to reciprocating or intermittently moving chains 19 arranged with their operating mechanism under a feed table 2 which is fitted with slots 22 through which the grippers project to receive the sheets from a suction separator 3. The sheets are carried over the table 2 and transferred to the impression cylinder 1 by oscillating grippers 7 fitted with registering devices 6. During this transfer process the grippers are opened by cams 24 which engage rollers 23 on the spring-depressed upper members 5<1> of the grippers, and the end of the chains 19 is depressed by lowering the pivoted frames 11 in which the sprockets 18 are mounted by means of toggle levers 13, 14, operated from an eccentric, not shown. The frames 11 are pivoted about the shaft 10 of the sprockets 16 which operate the chains 19. In order to bring the grippers to rest at the positions in which they receive and transfer the sheets, the shaft 10 is driven by gearing from a geared sector which is oscillated by a crank drive. The grippers are opened and closed at the sheetreceiving position by means of oscillating cams 26.
