Abstract
407,687. Alternating-current commutator motors. BRITISH THOMSONHOUSTON CO., Ltd., Crown House, Aldwych, London, and MAGGS, A. H., 14, Oval Road, Hillmorton Paddox, Rugby. Sept. 20, 1932, No. 196/33. Divided on and addition to 385,986. [Class 35.] In the motor described in the parent Specification comprising two units coupled or built together, a resistance or choke is provided which can be inserted as required in series with the motor unit having a series characteristic. In the Figure, 6 is the primary winding of a variable-speed brushshifting motor A such as is described in Specification 25358/11, [Class 35], and 9 the main primary winding of a repulsion motor B having also a series reversing winding 10. Interlocked switches 19, 20 control the direction of connection of the reversing winding 10. A resistance or choking coil 23 in series with the primary winding 9 is normally short-circuited by a switch 22. Instead of cutting out the motor B during deceleration and slow running periods as described in the parent Specification, the switch 22 is opened.
