407,431. Stays. WELSTEAD, C. E., WICKENDEN, J. J., and WELSTEAD, Ltd., C. E., 18A, Tanfield Road, Croydon. Oct. 11, 1932, No. 28299. [Class 65 (i).] A window stay comprises a bar fixed to the window or window sill and a box member, slidable on the bar and connected to the window sill or window, having a cam lever by which the member may be clamped to the bar. In the form shown, a bar of channelsection is fixed to the window and a box member d shdes on it and is pivoted to a link h pivotally connected at its other end to the window frame. A hand lever f, pivotally mounted between ears d<1> on the member d, has a cam portion f<1> adapted to press a flat plate e against the bar thus lifting the internal bottom face of the box member d, which may be roughened or serrated, into gripping engagement with the bar a. The underside of the plate e may also, or alternatively, be serrated. The stay will thus hold the window in any position when desired, but will yield to excessive force to prevent damage.
