Abstract

Articles of aluminium or its alloys after treatment to form an amorphous, adsorptive oxide coating are immersed in water at 80-100 DEG C. to render the coating crystalline and impervious to liquids. The latter treatment may last 10-30 minutes. The treated coatings are hard and coherent and have a high resistance to abrasion and corrosion.
